THE COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS OF STEVE JOBS

WHAT I LEARNED IN THE COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS OF STEVE JOBS

"A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him."
-David Brinkley

Words from the commencement address of Steve Jobs
will bring encouragement and motivation to all students in any schools or colleges and also people in the world, that what ever may happen or problems that the life will give, be strong. Don’t let any problems in life pull you down. Stand up and fight, face the world.
“You’ve got to find what you love” - Steve Jobs

Finding what you love the best way to live life in a wonderful world. Doing things that you love will give you happiness that you will never get in doing things as people wanted you to do.

“Connecting the dots”

Connecting the dots is his first story, focusing in making decisions in life.
Steve Job said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
From his statement, I learned that any decision you make you should have trust and faith. Don’t be afraid or think of what will happen in the future in what your decision may affect, what ever happen you should work for it, love and respect it, and never regret your decisions. Just like Steve Jobs making a very important decision in his life that gave him to the road of success. Believe in your self, you have a unique ability that no one has, just be you, and have trust and faith maybe sooner or later you and Steve Jobs meet in the same road, the road of success.
Also, our facilitator gives as an activity also about connecting dots. It may be the same as what Steve Jobs message in connecting dots but there is one thing I learned and always inside my mind “THINK BEYOND”.

“Love and Loss”

“What I Love To Do?”, It is so difficult for me to find what I really love to do, not just like Steve Jobs; he found what he love to do in his early life, he really love to make a computer even if you have all the brains and talent if you don’t love what you doing it may not work out. Right now, I am trying what I love to do or what I love to be in the future.
Loss, It is the very difficult part of situation in life, you have everything, everything that you have hardly build and just like a blink of an eye, its gone. It is just so pathetic. But there is one positive thing about loss, experiencing loss will give you another start or another better start to make it over again but in better one or may be it will turn out best. Losses if just a product of some mistakes that you did, experience loss is experiencing mistakes, which will help you to improve and become a new you. “If At First You Don’t Succeed, Call It Version 1.0”, from this quote, it means there is room for improvement. Loss if very important to experienced in life, because it will make you to become a better person. So don’t think that it is the end if you have experience loss, who knows, that loss will make you a very successful person someday.

“Death”

Death, a very horrible word for me, death is a loss of everything; you can’t stand up and fight. But Death changes many people; Death let them realize the importance of life and things that they can do while they are still alive.
I learned that staying alive can give me more opportunities and chance to improve my self. “Live life like it was your last”, do always what is best that you will never regret it at the end. Many people suffer for doing wrong things, as death comes, you can never turn it right. “Mistakes can be corrected but wrong will never be right”. Therefore do your best always.
“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life”.
I also learned new word in Steve Jobs third Story, the word “Dogma”, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. This word makes me realize that every person has its own will and decision. So you don’t have to live what people think, you should live by your own style and passion. You are unique from others and you have something that they don’t have.

"The man who makes a success of an important venture never wails for the crowd.
He strikes out for himself. It takes nerve, it takes a great lot of grit; but the man that succeeds has both.
Anyone can fail. The public admires the man who has enough confidence in himself to take a chance.
These chances are the main things after all. The man who tries to succeed must expect to be criticized. Nothing important was ever done but the greater number consulted previously doubted the possibility. Success is the accomplishment of that which most people think can't be done."
